August 16 | Pentecost 12
At the end of today’s gospel, Jesus commissions the disciples with the tasked work ahead; to make disciples, baptize, and teach. It is the same commissioning Jesus gives to us when we are sent back into the world each week. The Good News is we do not go alone, even when we are afraid, even when we might not have the words, even when we doubt, we are witnessing our commitment to faith in Christ. When we walk out the door after worship, Jesus leaves us with these words, “Remember, I am with you always, until the end of the age.”
