Spend, Hide, Invest
Today we hear a parable you may not have heard before. Or if you have, you may not have realized it is not the same as the parable of the talents. Ever read a sentence thinking you understand it but noticed the words your mind saw, and your eyes read were not the ones on the page? We do prefer to make short cuts, to reduce complex realities into simple statements. For example, “a pint’s a pound the world around.” There is some truth here. But the statement is false as it stands. We need to dig deeper to understand not just this statement, but our parable for today.
