Along our mid-summer’s journey, we find a preacher and sceptic sandwiched between the prophets & promises. Rumor has it Koheleth’s book of wisdom almost didn’t make it into the Bible. What with K’s conclusion that there is nothing new under the sun, with the result that everything that there is under the sun is both old and, as you might expect in all that heat, stinks, you can understand why. Vanity, vanity, all is vanity. Haven’t we all felt this way at times?
